ジョン・リー・フッカーのいとこのアール・フッカーは、自分でヴォーカルをとることはあまりなかったが、ブルース界の天才の一人だった。一般的な知名度は低かったが、彼をフェイバリットだと言うブルース・ミュージシャンは多い。スライド・ギターの名手で、セッションマンとしてジュニア・ウェルズ、マディ・ウォーターズ、アイク・ターナー、ジミー・ウィザースプーン他と共演。自己名義でも「Blue Guitar」はじめ、素晴らしいインストを残している。ワウワウ・ペダルをいち早く使用したブルースマンとしても知られる。
