経歴・特徴

ジョン・リトルジョンは、シカゴのスライド・ギタリストの中でも群を抜く実力の持ち主だった。ティーンエイジャーになる前から、フィッシュ・フライのパーティなどでブルースを聴いていた。父親が賭博でギターを獲得したことがきっかけで、ギターを弾くようになった。ミシシッピで氷の配達、ニューヨークでブルドーザー運転手の仕事を経験したのち、50年代からシカゴに移り、自動車修理工をしながらウェスト・サイドのクラブで演奏した。ギターは、繊細かつ奔放。そこに力強いヴォーカルが加わる。素晴らしい実力を持ちながらも大きなチャンスに恵まれなかったアーティストのひとり。
